The Elusive Tomato

About that suitcase full of buttons…nestled among our finds was the first button our company owned.  Kae discovered it in an antique shop in Prague.  Even though Kae and I have promised each other not to become collectors, that button is still with us.  The tomato button is a lovely molded, Czech glass button that tries to look like a real tomato.  The little devil has hidden from us and surfaces once in a while in the most unexpected places. 

I find myself wondering about the tomato button’s history before we became its proud owners and protectors but we will never know for sure.  That is a large part of the challenge and enjoyment in this button business.
